Vadapav Paratha is a stuffed flatbread inspired by Mumbai’s famous street snack—combining spicy mashed potato filling, flavorful chutneys, and the comforting bite of a soft paratha. Perfect for lunch, tiffin, or a weekend brunch!
Ingredients for making Vadapav Style Paratha
For the Dough:
- 2 cups whole wheat flour (atta)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp oil
- Water (as needed)
For the Vadapav Style Stuffing
- 3–4 medium potatoes (boiled & mashed)
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 2 tsp ginger-garlic-green chillies paste
- 8–10 curry leaves
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp coriander leaves (chopped)
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 2 tsps oil
For the Garlic Chutney
- 5–6 garlic cloves
- Half cup dry coconut cubes
- Half cup Peanuts
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 tsp oil
Step-by-Step Instructions for making Vadapav Style Paratha Recipe
Step 1: Make the Dough for Paratha
- Mix wheat flour, salt and oil in a big mixing bowl.
- Add water gradually and knead into a smooth, soft dough.
- Cover and rest for 15–20 minutes.
Step 2: Prepare the Vadapav Style Stuffing for the Parathas
- Heat 2 tsps oil in a pan.
- Add mustard and cumin seeds.
- Once they splutter, add hing, curry leaves, turmeric and green chilies-ginger-garlic paste.
- Sauté the paste for a minute.
- Add mashed potatoes than Mix well.
- Now Add salt, coriander, and lemon juice.
- Cook for 2 minutes and let it cool.

Step 3: Make the Garlic Chutney
- Take 1 spoon of Oil in the pan and heat up in low flame.
- Now add coconut cubes, peanuts and garlic cloves for 2–3 minutes.
- Cool, then blend with red chili powder and salt into a coarse chutney.


Step 4: Assemble the Paratha
- Divide dough into equal balls.
- Roll out one ball into a 4–5 inch circle.
- Place a portion of potato stuffing in the center and Sprinkle 1 tsp garlic chutney on top.
- Fold the edges to seal and shape into a ball or square or any other shape of your choice.
- Gently roll into a paratha using dry flour, about 6–7 inches wide.

Step 5: Cook the Paratha on Pan or tawa
- Heat a tawa on medium flame.
- Place the paratha and cook until brown spots appear on one side.
- Flip and apply ghee or oil.
- Repeat for the other side.
- Cook till crisp and golden on both sides and your Vadapav Style Paratha is ready to serve.
