On July 27, while walking home after dinner, he was attacked by a group of six teenagers.

They first broke his glasses, then violently beat him—leaving him bleeding on the pavement. He suffered serious head trauma and a fractured cheekbone.

His only “fault”? He was Indian.

Santosh’s case is not the only one. His story has become a symbol of what many now describe as a rising wave of racially motivated hate in Ireland.

  • Once inside the cab, they hit him on the head with a bottle—twice. He was so shaken by the incident that he is now scared to go back to work.

  • He had just arrived in Ireland with his infant child to take up a tech job.
  • He was falsely accused of a crime, then brutally attacked—stabbed, robbed, and stripped in public.
  • A local woman intervened and later posted online to clarify the man was innocent and bleeding heavily when she found him.

C. 6 year old Indian Origin girl case

  • The most heartbreaking case is that of a six-year-old Indian-origin girl, who was playing near her home in Waterford City.
  • During that time she was called racial slurs, punched in the face, her hair pulled, and even hit in her private parts with a bicycle wheel.
  • Her mother, a nurse and Irish citizen, broke down in interviews. “Even our children are not safe,” she said. “She was just playing outside our house.”
